About Gail Whitmore
Born in Glasgow and raised in New York City, Gail has
been working first as a volunteer and then as a professional in counseling
and crisis intervention for over twenty years.
After completing her studies in Voice, Musicology and Languages
at the University of Michigan, Gail volunteered for the Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. After two years she trained in counseling,
grief and palliative care at the Jacob
Perlow Hospice at Beth Israel Medical Center.
Following that, Gail was trained in crisis prevention and intervention
by Covenant House and went on to work for their Nineline, the largest
crisis hotline in the United States.
Gail also conducted a recreational discussion group for
the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter encouraging program members
to
share their loves of and perspectives on the music that had helped
shape their lives.
Gail provides counseling, general support and emergency service for individuals and couples. Her experience includes depression (including perinatal and post-partum), suicide,
self-injury, relationship concerns, sexual assault, GLBTQ challenges, bereavement, domestic violence, eating disorders and more.
Also on offer is work for business teams who wish for their employees to be happier, more productive and have more fine-tuned and developed interpersonal skills.
Living in Prague for the past eight years, Gail actively gives
workshops in the Czech school system on domestic violence and incest; she spearheaded the first V-Day campaign in the Czech Republic to help end violence towards women and girls. She is also a former member of both the Supervisory and Advisory Boards of the Liga

(League of Human Rights).
A native English speaker, Gail is fluent in Czech, Italian and Spanish; conversant in German; has basic use of French and Dutch; services are currently
offered only in English and Italian.
